While awaiting trial and potentially facing a lengthy prison sentence, Young Thug remains steadfast in his belief that “Business Is Business.”
Yesterday, the renowned Atlanta rapper revealed that he will drop his highly anticipated third studio album at midnight ET today. This upcoming project, titled Business Is Business, follows his 2021 release Punk.
Although the album’s tracklist and featured artists have yet to be unveiled, numerous hip-hop stars, including Drake, Metro Boomin, Chance The Rapper, Don Toliver, Lil Durk, and 21 Savage, have reposted Thug’s announcement and hinted at their involvement in the album. Excitement is building as fans eagerly await its release.
Thug initially teased Business Is Business last Friday by sharing a QR code on Instagram, which directed followers to a website featuring a countdown clock set to expire at midnight tonight.
Presently, Thug is in the midst of the jury selection process for a high-profile racketeering case involving him and his record label, Young Stoner Life. Consequently, it is likely that he has been unable to work on new music since his arrest in May 2022. However, it is speculated that some tracks intended for his postponed mixtape Slime Season 4, which he teased in April of last year, may find their way onto Business Is Business.
Interestingly, Thug’s album arrives just a week after his label-mate Gunna released his first full-length project, Gift & a Curse, since his release from jail in December regarding the YSL case. While the status of Thug and Gunna’s friendship remains unclear, Gunna has expressed support for Thug on multiple occasions, including in his recent music video for “alright,” where he featured the phrase “Free Jeffery” (referring to Thug’s legal name, Jeffery Williams).
Despite any uncertainties surrounding YSL, the return of two of the most exciting acts in hip-hop in consecutive weeks has stirred up excitement within the rap community.
